Research interests

Atmospheric electrodynamics: transient luminous events (sprites, blue and gigantic jets), non-equilibrium plasmas (such as streamer discharges) and their role in the generation of energetic electrons leading to production of X-rays and gamma-rays in the framework of terrestrial gamma-ray flashes and energetic radiation from lightning. Relativistic runaway electron avalanches and thermal runaway processes are rich and challenging problems involving a very broad range of energy. They represent a crossover between non-equilibrium plasma physics and high-energy physics.
